One wonderful morning, I watched my g-mother ever so carefully pic just the right chicken for dinne and what a FAT one it was. Afterall, she needed to feed about 12! She walked up to the perfect BIG fat chicken and placed her hand behind it’s neck and with a quick jerk, the process began. We plucked, and plucked and plucked! You know the rest…

Flour, lard, salt and peper to taste and dinner was served along with veggies and fresh baked buns.

Just another memory of dinner by g-ma!

Well, my mother graduated from the 8th grade. My Dad from the 3rd. Where did that leave me? I needed more out of life so I started my journey. I finished high school years after my kids were born because it was a lifelong dream of mine and yes, I was a high school dropout! I started collage solely to give my son a ride to college. In the process, I earned a A.S., a B.B.A, and an M.B.A. and still feel I have not filled my mind with the knowledge I desire. Thus, this blog was born…

Cowbones… a bad nickname!

How would you like to grow with a nick name like Cowbones??? Well, it started because I was nothing but skin and bones at slightly teen years… Reddish blonge hair, skinny, freckles, scrawney hair, blue eyes and nothing more to offer life as far as my big brother says. So, thus became the name Cowbones…

I can’t tell you how many times I chased my brother with murder in my mind. Today, 53 years later, I am the cow! Well, not quite… I’m on a diet and have lost 23 pounds as of June 1st! Woohoo…

Old Cemetaries

Okay, let’s go way back… I think the reason I like old cemetaries is because when I was very young, we visited our family cemetary. Many old graves. I revisted them from time to time as I grew up. It’s always intrigued me. Who were they, afterall, they were real people living real lives at one time or another.

Once my brother and I who were both under 10 ran throug our family cemetary. My right foot feel througth the dirt! It was such a shock to me. I had intruded upon someones resting place. Yet, I was curious. Exactly who were they, what were there lives about? Did they love, laugh, cry? It tought me to respect the dead, then, telsl there story…

Part two coming soon…

Christmas all screwed up!

One year all eight of us kids were so bad that year that Dad decided to punish us. Since he’d already hidden all the toys in the car trunk for months, he was in a delemma. He decided to switch the gifts. The girls would get boy toys and the boys would get girl toys and no one was allowed to exchange gifts…

Wow! I really did love that police car that had flashing red lights once you wound it up. Simply wound the car up and watch it speed away, it was great… God I wish you could have saw how those chihuaua’s ran from the lights and sounds of that most wonderful christmas toy! Guess I didn’t learn much that year.
